Success stories appeal to everyone. There’s something really enjoyable about following the progress of a person or company from
start up through to a point where things really look good. At the other end of the scale, seeing someone single-handedly tackle a task
and get it right can promote a big burst of warm fuzziness as well.
That could be a theme for BCM itself. The magazine has grown and is flourishing in line with the spectacular resilience of Australia’s
building and construction industries. While other professions have struggled in recent times, employing fewer people and forcing
staff to use accrued leave and so forth, professionals in construction and building have been in high demand and havestruggled to keep up with the opportunities on offer. The cover story on Adam Austin and his company Austin Contracting Services is a great example.
Austin Contracting Services is undoubtedly a great success story, as is GlobalData’s view of the industry’s future outlined in Eye On The Industry. The forecast of big government expenditure on infrastructure and the results of the Homebuilder scheme paint a very bright picture for building and construction in the coming decade. Even Jamie’s experience with the Uni-PRO
painting gear has a definite feeling of triumph about it.
On the lifestyle side of the ledger we’ve had a quick look at an interesting marketing concept from motorcycle manufacturer,
Yamaha. For us here at BCM, that’ll really be measured by whether or not we’ve produced a good magazine.
G’warn. Start reading. Let us know howwe’re doing.
