this great city! July brings the return of the mega shopping festival - Dubai Summer Surprises, which will see residents
and tourists from around the world flocking to the
city to find the best bargains. If you are looking for
something traditional, we guide you round Dubai’s

This June, Dubai is celebrating the holy month of Ramadan and you will have noticed the changes in daily routines as people follow traditions. There are plenty of festivities to get involved in and certain things that non-Muslims need to be aware of – of course, it’s all in here so you have a better understanding of this special time.

We had great weather in April so let’s hope it continues this month so we can take full advantage of all the outdoor activities across Dubai. From waterparks, theme parks, beaches and desert tours there’s plenty to choose from.
Start the month on a song at the stunning Dubai Opera with Mary Poppins, The Musical or check out baritone maestro Grigory Leps at Madinat Arena.
Then take in a bit of Dubai’s rich culture and history at Saruq Al-Haadid Museum, Etihad Museum or Salsali Private Museum. If comedy is more your thing then The Laughter Factory is hosting a trio of well known stand-up comedians, or you can dance the night away at the Dubai Tango Festival.

April is a great month to be out and about exploring Dubai’s rich culture and heritage; and with so many things happening, you’ll need this issue to help you plan!

On your travels, you are likely to come across traditional Arabic names, so we’ve put
together this short explanation to help you understand what they mean.First names traditionally come from Islam, and are chosen for their strong meanings. In the Quran it says, ‘On the day of resurrection, you will be called by your names and by your
fathers' names, so give yourselves good names’. This is why most Muslim names are made up
of three parts - the given name, father's name (‘bin’ means son of, ‘bint’ means daughter of ),and their family name.
