Oh, hello September! This is the month when
summer in the UAE officially ends, but
honestly, that doesn’t mean too much to us.
We say this because there’s plenty to do in
Dubai anyway.
From museum visits (page 11) to wandering around
the city’s beautiful souks (12) and desert adventures
(page 20), your mornings will be packed with activities.
In the evening, you can explore the hidden gems on

this great city! July brings the return of the mega shopping festival - Dubai Summer Surprises, which will see residents
and tourists from around the world flocking to the
city to find the best bargains. If you are looking for
something traditional, we guide you round Dubai’s
most impressive historical areas and help you survive
in the desert… Bedouin style!

This June, Dubai is celebrating the holy month of Ramadan and you will have noticed the changes in daily routines as people follow traditions. There are plenty of festivities to get involved in and certain things that non-Muslims need to be aware of – of course, it’s all in here so you have a better understanding of this special time.

We had great weather in April so let’s hope it continues this month so we can take full advantage of all the outdoor activities across Dubai. From waterparks, theme parks, beaches and desert tours there’s plenty to choose from.
Start the month on a song at the stunning Dubai Opera with Mary Poppins, The Musical or check out baritone maestro Grigory Leps at Madinat Arena.
Then take in a bit of Dubai’s rich culture and history at Saruq Al-Haadid Museum, Etihad Museum or Salsali Private Museum. If comedy is more your thing then The Laughter Factory is hosting a trio of well known stand-up comedians, or you can dance the night away at the Dubai Tango Festival.

March is the perfect time of year for getting outside, so whether it’s just a walk along the beach or a night out at your favourite restaurant, get out of your hotel room and make the most of it!
If you love curling up with a good book, then get down to the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, the Middle East’s largest celebration of the written and spoken word.
If music is more of your thing then Dubai Opera treats us to Madam Butterfly, Brian Adams is in town at the beginning of the month and UB40 will be rocking the stage at the end. We, of course, cannot forget the richest
horse race in the world Dubai World Cup on 25th March.
Which will see the biggest equestrian names competing, after race concerts and spectacular fireworks!
The beach clubs and water parks are a great place to cool off when you just want to kick back and relax. Or if you’ve got energy to burn, check out the sights and attractions, sports and activities and nightlife and entertainment

On your travels, you are likely to come across traditional Arabic names, so we’ve put
together this short explanation to help you understand what they mean.First names traditionally come from Islam, and are chosen for their strong meanings. In the Quran it says, ‘On the day of resurrection, you will be called by your names and by your
fathers' names, so give yourselves good names’. This is why most Muslim names are made up
of three parts - the given name, father's name (‘bin’ means son of, ‘bint’ means daughter of ),and their family name.
