Student suicides up by 4.3% in 2024: NCRB data
The number of student suicides in India climbed to 14,488 in 2024 — the highest in at least a decade — marking a 4.3% rise from 13,892 cases in 2023 even as overall suicides in the country declined marginally by 0.4% during the same period, according to the latest data released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
