Which club has won the most consecutive matches in the DStv Premiership since the formation of the league ahead of the 1996/97 season? Nick Said looks at the records for each club competing this season

AMAZULU 

Six matches: Usuthu went on a six-game winning run under Benni McCarthy in 2021, when the club finished second. They actually won an incredible 12 out of 14, with two 0-0 draws in the run as well.

CAPE TOWN CITY

Four matches: City have managed four league wins on the bounce twice in their relatively short history, including their first season in 2016/17 and the last campaign in 2021/22. Both were achieved under coach Eric Tinkler in different spells at the helm.

CHIPPA UNITED

Four matches: Chippa set a new mark for their longest winning run this season. Ironically, given their huge turnover of coaches, this was achieved with Morgan Mammila in charge. He is best known as an administrator.

KAIZER CHIEFS

10 matches: Chiefs' record PSL winning streak straddled two seasons, but had the same coach in charge, with Stuart Baxter leading them to the title in the 2014/15 season, beginning the campaign with eight wins in a row. Add the two victories at the end of the previous season and they made it to double figures. Their run was eventually ended by Moroka Swallows, who held them to a 1-1 draw.
