MEMBERS of the public are being urged to vote for their favourite butterfly, as conservationists look to reveal which of the insects takes top spot for the nation.
-
Butterfly Conservation, which runs the annual Big Butterfly Count to help track how the nation’s butterfly species are faring, is inviting people to vote for their favourite between now and June 7.
Celebrities are backing the poll, with Geri Halliwell-Horner and Dame Joanna Lumley plumping for the Holly Blue, while Downton Abbey star Jim Carter has opted for the Cabbage White, as seeing pairs dancing in his garden “always makes me happy”.
Butterfly Conservation is launching a dedicated website with fun facts about UK species, where people can cast their vote and even take a “what’s your butterfly personality” quiz to choose their favourite.
