'Stairway to Devon' is back after renovation

STEPS LINKING ROYAL WILLIAM YARD TO COAST PATH RETURN
A LANDMARK staircase in Plymouth is back after major renovation works. The eye-catching staircase that connects the Royal William Yard to Devil's Point along the South West Coast Path was removed at the end of November.
Known as the Western King steps and dubbed the "Stairway to Devon", the flight of steps was originally installed 11 years ago and dedicated in the memory of Eric Wallis, a champion for the South West Coastal Path. The stairway climbs a 12-metre high defensive wall and punches through the one-metre thick limestone fortification to form a link for the National Trail.
The 63-step stairway needed specialist repairs in Falmouth after years of being exposed to the elements. The project saw it blast cleaned, repaired and repainted.
