The priest's voice resounded within the four walls of the church during his homily one Sunday morning: "Nothing belongs to us.
All the things we chase in life are passing. We don't own them. They're just loaned to us. We are so focused in chasing our dreams and ambitions in life, forgetting that life is brief, and temporary.
We sometimes forget about what it means to be human. We forget to treasure and cherish the moments with our loved ones. We take them for granted, confident that they will be always there, not realizing that they may not be there tomorrow.
We become materialistic. The things that we hoard cannot be brought to the next world. What we leave behind are kind deeds that make a difference in the lives of others - big or small."
On my way home from mass, the words of the priest kept on reverberating in my mind - "Nothing belongs to us..."
