On Monday, Wall Street experienced one of its worst trading days since 2022, driven by worries over President Donald Trump's trade policies.

Investors are increasingly concerned that a trade war could push the US economy into recession, with Trump hinting at the possibility. In a recent Fox News interview, Trump avoided directly commenting on the recession threat, stating, "I hate to predict things like that. There is a period of transition...and there are always periods where it takes a little time." This remark followed earlier comments where Trump acknowledged that his trade measures might cause short-term pain. This stance marks a stark contrast from his first term, when Trump was more responsive to stock market fluctuations. In Monday's selloff, the tech-heavy NASDAQ dropped over 4%, with Tesla—promoted by Elon Musk—losing more than 10%, significantly lower than its peak in December.
