And among the other sporting icons there were ex-Man United midfielder and Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick, and cricketer Ryan Sidebottom.
Given his pop pedigree and his illustrious career, Robbie was always going to be a big draw at the new festival, which is making its debut across two different days this week.
