A FULL bank holiday weekend of music on Kelsall Green lies ahead with the Chester Folk Festival.

Set in the picturesque village of Kelsall, the festival features some of the biggest names on the national folk scene alongside well-loved local artists.

This family friendly festival offers something for all and this year is a special one as the festival celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Expect showcase concerts alongside informal events such as ceilidhs, dance displays, sessions and workshops.

There is also a festival market and a full programme of children's entertainment run by Panic Circus.

The celebrations will weave through the event starting on Friday, May 23 and finishing on Monday, May 26.

Friday will see the unveiling of an extraordinary work of art which has been a year in the making and has been stitched together by some very talented festival supporters.

This year the festival headliners include: The Melsons/ Melrose Quartet/ The Wilsons (all weekend), John Kirkpatrick, (Sat) Bryony Griffith and Alice Jones (Sat), Jez Lowe (Sun), Saul Rose & James Delarre (Sun), Patakas (Sun), Tom Kitching with Marit Falt (Mon) and Greg Russell (Mon).
