£200,000 to be spent in bid to keep new pond costs down
South Wales Echo
|October 28, 2025
A COUNCIL is set to spend almost £200,000 on project managers to keep down the cost of a scheme for anew pond at an industrial wasteland.
-
Two watercourses running across the Torfaen site - which is known as The British - will be redirected to make a pond for holding water as part of the land reclamation.
The attenuation pond in Talywain is needed to control the amount of water that runs through an existing culvert assessed as unable to cope with a once-in-a-century storm.
The project, led by Torfaen council, is the first phase of a planned redevelopment of the former ironworks and mine.
