WITH Reform supporters backing the party to engage in a DOGE (department of government efficiency) style clampdown on wasteful government spending it is worth remembering the biggest waste in government spending in modern history.

The European Union employs around 60,000 civil servants, while the UK civil service saw a significant increase of around 100,000 officials related to Brexit preparations.
Those numbers really put into context the constant accusations by Farage that the EU was excessively bureaucratic.
Even now, in 2025, a substantial number of civil servants are working on Brexit-related issues.
Reform needs to buck its ideas up over their vetting process for potential candidates.
