Our record speaks volumes. We have set a good record. Keep up the good work of ensuring that public participation remains at the centre of our work as government".Blouberg Local Municipality Mayor Her Worship Cllr Maria Thamaga's closing remarks presented by Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Economic Development and Planning, Cllr Daniel Mosena.
This year's conference, themed 'WARD COMMITTEES IN A CONCERTED EFFORT TO ENSURE SUCCESSFUL LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS", emphasised the vital role of ward committees in realising this objective.
"We must build trust and believe in local government amongst our communities. Local government is a tool in the hands of our communities that can be utilised for a better life and sustainable livelihoods. We want municipalities that live up to objects of local government as contained in section 152 Act No 108 of 1996 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.
