Health budget grows, but EMS union says it's not enough

Health MEC Dieketseng Mashego re-tabled the department's 2025/26 budget vote during a session at the Legislative Chambers on June 19, announcing a 5.8% increase in the department's overall budget.
The total health budget now stands at R26.1b, with allocations aimed at strengthening district health services and improving infrastructure across the province.
Mashego outlined the budget breakdown, which includes R20.4b from the equitable share, R4b from conditional grants, and R220m in departmental revenue. She described the increased funding as a critical step toward expanding healthcare access and improving health outcomes across Limpopo.
THE BUDGET IS ALOCATED AS FOLLOWS
R300m for administration.
R16.3b for district health services.
