Hartley admits B team wasted great opportunity

Peter Hartley insists St Mirren B squandered a great chance to qualify for the knockout stage of the KDM Evolution Trophy.

An early brace from Deryn Lang earned League Two Stranraer a 2-0 win over the young Buddies at Stair Park on Tuesday night.

The result means Saints did not secure a top-22 finish which would have seen them join the 10 Championship sides in the next phase.

And Hartley, the club’s head of first-team transition and loan pathways, says the performance wasn’t good enough.

"You can't win a game in 15 minutes but you can certainly lose one," he told club media. "I thought we started really bad.
