August 16 2025

Independent power producer (IPP) TeaM Energy Corp. has transferred its 735-megawatt (MW) Pagbilao coal-fired power plant to the government, following the expiration of its Build, Operate, and Transfer (BOT) contract.

- By GABRIELL CHRISTEL GALANG

In a statement, TeaM Energy said Friday, Aug. 15, that the turnover to the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. (PSALM) and the National Power Corporation (NPC) was a result of its 1991 agreement.

The facility has been subsequently turned over to a unit of Aboitiz Power Corp., Therma Luzon, Inc. (TLI).

The Pagbilao plant, located in Quezon province, consists of two generating units, each with a 367.5 MW capacity.
