Groups get top royal honour

FOUR GET KING'S AWARD, THE VOLUNTEERING MBE

FOUR organisations have been honoured with The King's Award for Voluntary Service.

The award holds the same value as an MBE and is the highest that can be awarded to volunteer groups.

The recipients will each be visited by Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire Mike Kapur, who will hold individual ceremonies to present them with their King's Award.

This year's recipients are:

■Asfordby Amateurs Ladies, Girls and Inclusive Football Club: The club provides a welcoming and safe environment for all abilities and ages to develop skills through football.

It offers coaching, refereeing and leadership courses and supports the Melton Schools League, providing opportunities for hundreds of young people.
