If the current trends are anything to go by, rising infertility is one of the serious public health challenges faced by Kashmir. Diagnostic clinics, hospitals, and outreach workers across the Valley are reporting a significant increase in cases of hormonal disorders, early menopause, and reduced fertility. As a report in this paper makes it clear, the trend is no longer anecdotal as it is being observed across age groups.

More young couples are struggling to conceive. Women are reporting irregular menstrual cycles, early menopause, and polycystic ovary syndrome. Similarly, men are undergoing fertility testing. Clinics across the Valley are seeing rising numbers of such cases. The pattern is becoming difficult to ignore.
