'Disaster' homes plan at park outskirts rejected

COUNCIL plans to build homes on the edge of a popular park — branded "a disaster waiting to happen" — have been rejected by their own planning committee.

Thanet District Council (TDC) had proposed redeveloping a disused gardener's depot in Pierremont Park, Broadstairs, into four homes: three three-storey family houses and a two-bedroom bungalow.

The application was first debated in May, when residents and councillors raised objections.

On Wednesday, August 20, the scheme was formally refused.
