Council unveils plans for Ramsgate 'Green Campus'

Designs for the Green Campus HAZELMCCORMACKYOUNG LLP

THANET District Council has released new images of a multimillion-pound “Green Campus” proposed for a site near the Port of Ramsgate.

The authority has officially submitted a planning application for the scheme, which will be funded using money from the previous government's Levelling Up Fund.

In total, £19.8 million in Levelling Up money was earmarked for Thanet, of which £8.5 million has been allocated for the planned Green Campus in Military Road. Some funding is also expected to be provided by the private sector.

Initially the plan had £6.1 million of Levelling Up funds allocated to it, but further funding has been reallocated from the Port of Ramsgate project.

The development is expected to provide training, education, and business opportunities for the marine and maritime sector, although as yet no operators or tenants have been lined up.
