Ayew sorry after ref cold shoulder
Irish Daily Mirror
|May 05, 2025
JORDAN AYEW gifted rookie ref David Webb a signed Leicester shirt by way of apology after his top-flight debut ended in a KO.
Midway through the first half, the Foxes forward collided with the official, who was overseeing his first Premier League game.
Webb suffered a neck injury and was replaced by fourth official Sam Barrott after a 12-minute stop page.
Concerned Ayew, who scored Leicester's clincher in the battle of the relegated sides, immediately went to the ref's room post-match.
The ex-Crystal Palace striker, 33, said: "I don't know what happened. I just felt something bump into me. These kind of things can happen in football.
"It was his debut and I'm really, really sorry.
