HEAD COACH'S CHRISTMAS PLEA TO SUPPORTERS AS TOWN TRY TO GET OUT OF RESULTS RUT

- By SAM ALLEN

GRIMSBY Town take on Oldham Athletic for the first time in over four years at Blundell Park today, looking to stop their slide down the League Two table.

The Mariners were victorious in their last meeting with their next opponents in April 2021, in a season that ended with relegation back to the National League.

The Latics suffered the same fate the year after, but they have now returned to the EFL, just as Town did, via the National League playoffs.

The two teams now face off again, with just goal difference separating them in the table.

Their proximity in the standings is largely due to the misfortunes of David Artell's side, with eight consecutive league fixtures without victory seeing them fall from the top three in late October to 15th now.

Oldham edged ahead of Town with a win last time out at home to Tranmere, but it has been a mixed bag for them on their travels, with their last victory on the road coming on November 8 at Harrogate Town.
