South West best Youngsters shine at regionals with fine performances

GLOUCESTER AC youngsters put in some fine performances at the South West Schools championships in Exeter.

Triple jumper Oshotare Kadiri won the senior boys event with a jump of 13.89m and qualified for the English Schools championship, while Ula Mohammed took second place in the long jump with 5.02m.

Amber Tandy competed in the 100m and Olivia Pachula came second in the 300m with 43.55s, a personal best, shortly before running the 200m.

Melody Benn also competed in the 300m and clocked a personal best, won the event by five metres, made the time for English Schools standard and achieved a club record.

Oscar Wilson and Oakley Hogan competed in the 400m hurdles with Wilson third in his age group with 58.47s and Hogan sixth in his race with 63.17s.

Livvi Avery, Estelle Lowe and Ruth Brook raced in the combined age group 1500m.

Lowe was seventh in her age group with a time of 5:13.14, Brook was the third senior girl with 4:43.20 and Avery was winner of the race, with an identical time to the runner-up, 4:37.98. Brook and Avery qualified for the English Schools Championships.
