Solanke back with a bang to seal Spurs' place in the top eight

- BY ALASDAIR GOLD

RANDAL KOLO MUANI came back to haunt Frankfurt and help send Tottenham into the last 16.

Decked out in their traditional all-white look for European nights under the lights as light snow fell, Spurs knew a victory would send them straight through as one of the top eight.

In the end it was a goal from Frankfurt old boy Kolo Muani and another from Dominic Solanke that did the job and meant the nightmare prospect of a two-legged playoff was avoided.

Boss Thomas Frank (circle) went into the game without the services of 14 players, including the injured Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro, meaning he had just 11 senior outfield names from which to choose his starting lineup.

The one senior star who took a place on the bench was Solanke, after his first back-to-back starts since May following his troublesome ankle problem.
