Hundreds to be airlifted in humanitarian crisis

Sick Gaza children will come to the UK for NHS treatment

UP to 300 seriously sick children in Gaza are due to be airlifted to Britain for NHS treatment.

A parent or guardian will accompany each child, as well as siblings if necessary, with the Home Office carrying out biometric and security checks before travel.

This will happen “in parallel” with Project Pure Hope, set up to bring sick and injured Gazan children to the UK for private medical care.

It comes amid increasing pressure on Israel and Hamas to end the war and ease the suffering of 2.1 million Palestinians trapped in the enclave.

A Government spokesman said: “We are taking forward plans to evacuate more children from Gaza who require urgent medical care, including bringing them to the UK for specialist treatment where that is the best option. We are working at pace.”
