CAMBRIDGE United beat Accrington Stanley 2-0 in their final home game of the year in League Two on Friday evening.

The hosts created the few openings of the first half, with Louis Appere heading well off target following Liam Bennett's cross after 12 minutes.

Adam Mayor's corner almost flew straight in but was punched away by Ollie Wright, before the U’s opened the scoring in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Sullay Kaikai had time to pick a pass across goal that fell into the path of unchallenged defender James Gibbons, who blasted home past Wright.

Ten minutes after halftime, James Brophy freed Kaikai on the left but his effort was pushed away by Wright, though Kaikai did make it 2-0 on the hour when he nodded Mayor's cross in from close range.
