ERC holds talks with Meralco on rate bid

THE Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) met with the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) to thresh out concerns raised by other parties related to the utility firm’s application to impose a maximum average price (MAP) of P2.3436 per kilowatt hour (kWh) for regulatory year (RY) 2027.

The agency said Wednesday it conducted a pretrial conference last March 10, as part of its continuing review of the Meralco application for proposed distribution rates for the First Regulatory Period (1RP), which covers the years 2027-2030.

Meralco previously filed its application seeking approval of its Annual Revenue Requirement (ARR), Performance Incentive Scheme (PIS), and Smoothed Maximum Average Price (MAP) for the First Regulatory Period covering RY 2027-2030. The application also includes the translation of the MAP into distribution rates for various customer classes, in accordance with the Rationalized Rules for Setting Distribution Wheeling Rates (RRDWR) under ERC Resolution No. 24, Series of 2025.
