'World turned upside down' Family coming to terms with loss of twin

Darren and Victoria Burgess lost their two-year old son Arlo at the end of November, after a brave six-month battle against a rare and aggressive brain cancer called AT/RT (atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumour) which are fast-growing, malignant tumors that typically affect children under three.

The couple has now set up Ezra's Adventures Fund to help them go on days out and create special moments for his twin brother Ezra in honour of Arlo. It is hoped the fund will continue as a legacy for Arlo and for giving Ezra all the support he will need in future years.

Victoria, 35, said: "We've created Ezra's Adventures Fund to help us make special memories with him in honour of Arlo. We want to take him on gentle days out, small holidays and meaningful experiences that will bring him comfort and help keep his brother's memory close. The fund will also help support essential household costs so we can remain at home with Ezra during this incredibly fragile time."

She said the bond their boys had was very special and explained: "Arlo and Ezra were born on September 28, 2023. They came into the world together and from the very first moment they were inseparable. Their bond was so natural and so deep that even as babies they'd reach for each other, comfort each other, and settle only when they knew the other was close."
