Derived from the Sanskrit words 'Surya,' meaning sun, and 'garh,' meaning fort, Suryagarh literally translates to 'the Sun's fort.

' Designed as a sun fortress where every part of the sprawling building faces the sun, the Suryagarh rises like a gilded mirage from the arid plains of Jaisalmer, and though not a real fort, every corner here echoes the splendour of Rajasthan's royal past.

Step through its grand gates, and you are swept into an arrival befitting a maharaja. Greeted by the pulse of drums, camel-mounted cavalry, showers of desert roses, and the lilting songs of folk dancers and balladeers. Inside, it's the same story. The courtyards, the monumental arches, the majestic lawns, the hand-carved oriel windows, the jharokas, and the screen prints on walls give you a testimony of the illustrious past of the Rajput clan.
