Creating a calming ambience is key, so choose natural materials and a soothing colour palette for your morning coffee

Taino bar stool, £395; Benedict pendant lamp, £195, both OKA

Having a good cup of coffee can set you up for the day and this popular social ritual has swiftly turned into the latest interiors trend - cafécore. Coffee culture can easily be created within your own kitchen. Whether it's a small station on the worktop with your brewing essentials, a new coffee machine for entertaining, or giving your space its own cafécore aesthetic by decorating in a laid-back style, it's easily achievable and suits all kinds of kitchens.

Make use of dead space, like this understair nook, with fitted cabinetry and peg rails above, to create a drinks area for coffee and wine

Bi-fold doors on a dresser will keep all your coffee essentials neatly hidden from view after use. Ask a local carpenter or joiner to create a similar look for an existing unit
