Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro finally brings his lifelong 'passion project' to the screen in a sumptuous retelling of Mary Shelley's classic tale of a monster and its creator. Staying largely faithful to the 1818 Gothic novel, del Toro sets his adaptation during the Crimean War and splits the narrative, with Oscar Isaac's obsessive, egotistical Victor Frankenstein helming chapter one.
