NEW THRILLER

Hijack

From Wednesday 14 January, Apple TV (released weekly)

Idris Elba picked up an Emmy nomination for his tour de force performance as master negotiator Sam Nelson in the first series of Apple TV thriller Hijack - and this week he's back in the firing line.

After foiling a terrorist plot on board a packed jumbo jet last time out, in the eight-part second series Sam finds himself battling for control of a packed subway train on Berlin's U-Bahn.

IN HARM'S WAY

At the start of this week's opening episode, Sam arrives in the snowswept German capital for a meeting at the British Embassy, after pestering them for an audience for several months.

But when he boards the subway to begin his journey on the city's underground, it soon becomes clear the driver of his train has a serious problem and before long someone wrestles the controls from him.

With hundreds of passengers now at the mercy of hostile forces, Sam springs into action. However, Elba says this year's series is far more complex than your standard hostage drama.
