Seacrest, out! Inside the star’s surprise decision to leave Live with Kelly and Ryan after six years

I promised Kelly I wouldn’t cry,” said an emotional Ryan Seacrest as he announced he’s quitting Live with Kelly and Ryan during the Feb. 16 episode. As he held back tears, Seacrest revealed he’s heading home to L.A. to host the next season of American Idol, adding that he’ll return to Live to fill in alongside Kelly Ripa from time to time. “It was a tough, tough decision,” he continued. “This has been the greatest ride for me.
