New electric family SUV targets the Skoda Enyaq with an official range of up to 329 miles On sale January 2026 Price from £37,995

IF YOU'RE A fast talker, you might need to pace yourself when telling people about the MG S6, otherwise they'll think it's named after the county northeast of London. But hey, TV's The Only Way is Essex has lasted 35 series so far, so perhaps this new electric family SUV will lodge itself in the public consciousness too.

MG certainly hopes so. The S6 slots in between the smaller S5 and the bigger IM6 in the brand's lineup, to rival the Kia EV6 and Skoda Enyaq, both of which it undercuts on price. And, on paper, that comes without compromise on performance or range.

The entry-level S6 Long Range has a single 241bhp motor driving its rear wheels, with performance stacking up well against the equivalent EV6 and Enyaq. The 357bhp Dual Motor with four-wheel drive is significantly quicker, cutting the 0-62mph time down to 5.1sec.

The Long Range has an official range of 329 miles, easily beating the entry-level Enyaq 60 (270 miles) but not the significantly pricier EV6 Air (361 miles). Official range drops to 301 miles for the Dual Motor, but it, too, is still cheaper than any EV6.
