WHAT BETTER TEST of a new car than to load it up with enough luggage for a family of four and then subject it to a two-hour drive to the coast for a summer holiday?

Indeed, after my Ford Capri arrived, there was barely enough time to adjust the driver's seat, steering wheel and mirrors before we were off from Surrey to Dorset, on a 97-mile mixture of motorways and A-roads with the car at more or less full capacity.

I'm pleased to say the space test was passed with flying colours; if there's one thing this electric SUV is, it's practical.

For starters, the boot is huge.
