Restored with the Dutch sense of quirkiness and tongue-in-cheek style, the recently re-opened Pulitzer Hotel in Amsterdam is at the heart of the fashionable Nine Streets shopping district in the old city centre.

The Pulitzer Hotel was a vision of Peter Pulitzer (the grandson of the man whose bequest established the Pulitzer Prize), to combine 12 canal houses into a hotel in the 1960s. Now occupying 25 canal houses, the hotel brings together traditional and modern design in a clash of what can be defined as quintessential Dutch style.
