Some essential and core building materials like cement, steel and plywood contribute to structural stability and are generally covered with other materials that take up beautification responsibilities. Tiles have something more to contribute. Do you remember your school Physics book that first told you that light has dual nature - particle and wave? Same way, tile is an exceptional building material that has two (not one) core deliverables 1. Making the floor beautiful i.e. aesthetics and 2. Giving strength and robustness to the floor i.e. functional durability.
