True love at the carnival
Woman's World
|April 07, 2025
Abby’s nostalgic visit to the carnival leads to a chance encounter, sparking a connection that promises new beginnings
Abby had always loved carnivals the vibrant colors, the laughter, the smell of funnel cakes and popcorn. They reminded her of the carefree, joy-filled days of her youth.
Now in her late 50s and single, she often found herself longing for those simpler times. So when she heard that the annual spring carnival was setting up in town, she decided to treat herself to a little nostalgia.
Dressed in her favorite sundress, Abby strolled through the busy center, her heart light, a smile playing on her lips. Children ran past her, their faces bubbling with delight, and couples walked hand-in-hand, lost in their own worlds.
She stopped at a games booth, tempted by the challenge of winning a stuffed animal, and laughed at memories of trying—and failing dramatically—to win one in the past.
As she stepped away from the stand, her attention was drawn to the Ferris wheel towering above the carnival.
She hadn’t ridden one in years, and the thought of seeing the world from such a height excited her. On a whim, she decided to give it a try.
Waiting in line, she noticed a man about her age, just ahead of her. Tall, with rugged charm, he seemed equally fascinated by the Ferris wheel. As the line moved forward, they found themselves side by side.
“Are you a fan of heights?” Abby asked, curiosity getting the better of her.
