Dr. Sabhyata Gupta Pioneering Women's Health
Woman's Era
|November 2025
The story of India's First Robotic Gynaecologic Surgeon.
In the ever-evolving landscape of Indian medicine, a few milestones stand out as defining moments.
One such turning point was created by Dr. Sabhyata Gupta, a name that has become synonymous with innovation in women’s health. She etched her place in medical history as the first gynecologist in India to perform robotic surgery- a feat that redefined the possibilities of minimally invasive gynecology in the country.
Today, as the Chair of the Department of Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology at Medanta - The Medicity, Dr. Gupta leads not just with skill, but with vision, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to women's well-being.
A Visionary Ahead of Her Time
The seeds of this vision were sown early. Dr. Sabhyata inherited her drive and passion from her father, who served the Indian Air Force with the discipline and dedication of a soldier. Frequent relocations during his service years taught young Sabhyata to embrace change, welcome new ideas, and adapt to different situations with ease and élan.
At a time when robotic surgery was still at a nascent stage globally, Dr. Gupta recognised its potential and embraced the technology with foresight and determination. She honed her skills across leading international institutions-Robotic surgery in France, Laparoscopy in Germany, HIPEC in the UK, and Ovarian transplantation in Israel. This diverse training placed her at the forefront of surgical advancement, enabling her to redefine gynecologic surgery in the country.
