Hollywood's love affair with SKINNY JABS
WOMAN - UK
|February 24, 2025
Woman columnist and news journalist Isabel Webster asks if the headline-hitting injections really are an easy fix
Society's obsession with body image is an age-old phenomenon. One minute it's 'thin is in', the next it's all about celebrating 'real' bodies and curves. Now, all eyes are on the so-called 'skinny jabs' taking the world by storm. Celebrities like Sharon Osbourne, Lottie Moss, Rebel Wilson and Oprah Winfrey have discussed their experiences with weight-loss injections, to mixed reactions. One fan said of Sharon's appearance, 'I was horrified at how she appears to be disappearing. These jabs seem to be literally making her and, no doubt, many more, disintegrate.' And other names including Ariana Grande, Kate Beckinsale and Baroness Karren Brady have all been accused of using the wonder jab, though they have all denied it, with Karren addressing the rumours and saying, 'I haven't joined [the club] bloody hard work.'
What are skinny jabs? Initially designed to treat type 2 diabetes, the active ingredient is semaglutide, which mimics a hormone (GLP-1) naturally released in the gut after eating, helping you feel full.
