I’m kinky. This may come as a surprise to you – it certainly did to me.

I discovered this about myself as I was sitting reading the latest espionage thriller I'd loaded onto the iPad.

I'll never be James Bond, but I do like to imagine myself in the protagonist’s role. Although he was on a motorbike in a tuxedo and I was splayed on an old chair in my trackpants with a crumb-riddled T-shirt, it didn’t matter – we both worked for MI6.

While reading, I coolly ran my fingers through my hair like an undercover agent. I don’t know why. I was alone in the room. Nobody noticed or cared.
