SpaceX has completed a full fueling rehearsal of its Starship V3 rocket, marking a key milestone ahead of what could become the vehicle's first launch attempt within days.

SPACEX COMPLETES STARSHIP V3 FUEL TEST AHEAD OF LAUNCH

The company confirmed that cryogenic propellant was successfully loaded into the fully stacked rocket during a flight-like countdown at its Starbase facility in South Texas.

The test represents one of the final technical steps before launch, demonstrating that the world’s tallest and most powerful rocket can be prepared under conditions closely resembling an actual mission.

A CRITICAL FULL-SYSTEM REHEARSAL

Fueling a rocket of Starship’s scale is a complex operation. The vehicle uses supercooled liquid methane and liquid oxygen, both of which must be loaded at extremely low temperatures and carefully managed throughout the countdown.

During the rehearsal, SpaceX simulated a full launch sequence, including the timing and coordination required to transfer propellant into the vehicle. Successfully completing this process without incident suggests that key systems—such as valves, tanks, and ground support equipment—are functioning as expected.

This type of test is essential because fueling introduces stresses that cannot be replicated through static analysis alone. Temperature changes, pressure dynamics, and material behavior all play a role, making real-world validation a critical step.

imageWHY STARSHIP V3 MATTERS

Starship V3 represents the latest iteration of SpaceX’s next-generation launch system. Designed to be fully reusable, the rocket is intended to carry both crew and cargo for missions ranging from Earth orbit to the Moon and eventually Mars.

The vehicle consists of two stages: the Super Heavy booster and the Starship upper stage. Together, they form the tallest rocket ever built, exceeding the height of previous launch systems by a significant margin.
