Apple has updated the Apple Sports app with two practical additions aimed at making live sports information easier to check across the iPhone and CarPlay.

APPLE SPORTS ADDS F1 WEATHER AND CARPLAY WIDGETS

Version 3.10 adds weather conditions for Formula 1 Grand Prix races and introduces smaller widget options that can appear on the iPhone Home Screen and inside CarPlay’s Dashboard view. Apple’s App Store release notes also mention new 2026 FIFA World Cup support, letting fans follow teams and explore groups before the tournament begins in June. The update is not a major redesign, but it strengthens the app’s role as Apple's lightweight destination for scores, standings, league tracking, and live sports context. Since its 2024 launch, Apple Sports has expanded across more regions and added support for more leagues and competitions, including F1, NASCAR, MLB, NBA, NHL, NFL, Premier League, PGA TOUR, and others.

F1 WEATHER ARRIVES IN APPLE SPORTS

The most specific new feature is built for Formula 1 coverage. Apple Sports can now show weather conditions for each Grand Prix, including track temperature and wind speed. Apple's release notes frame this as a way for F1 fans to follow race conditions more closely, adding information that can affect tire strategy, qualifying pace, race setup, and real-time expectations during a weekend.

For Formula 1, weather is not background information. Track temperature can influence tire degradation and grip levels, while wind can affect braking, corner entry, and car stability. Even small changes during a Grand Prix weekend can alter how teams manage strategy. Adding those conditions to Apple Sports gives the app a more useful layer for motorsport followers who want more than a simple race schedule or finishing order.
