AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP LINEUP CONFIRMED
Australia's brand-new second-tier competition, the Championship, kicks off in October. There are 16 clubs involved in the inaugural edition. The eight founding members are APIA Leichhardt, Avondale, Marconi Stallions, Preston Lions (who featured in the May edition of World Soccer), South Melbourne, Sydney Olympic, Sydney United 58 and Wollongong Wolves. They will be joined by the eight state National Premier Leagues (NPL) champions, which this season are Bayswater City, Broadmeadow Magic, Canberra Croatia, Heidelberg United, Moreton City Excelsior, North Eastern MetroStars, NWS Spirit and South Hobart.
