WHERE IS HOME?
Juventus hail from the northern Italian city of Turin, which has a population of around 2.2 million. It has long been considered an important seat of culture in Europe. It is about two hours' drive from Milan, and the same distance to Genoa, the other major city nearby and the home of Serie A clubs Genoa and Sampdoria.
WHAT'S IN A NAME?
Juventus means 'youth' in Latin, an apt name for the club given it was started by students in 1897. The learners were from the Massimo d'Azeglio Lyceum, a high school in Turin. Their rise was rapid and after a local businessman got involved, they won their first Italian Football Championship in 1905.
