'SCOT FREE: WHAT YOU CAN LEARN FROM THE WORLD NO.1'

Copying the habits and practices of successful people is a well-trodden path to improvement, and right now, there is no one more successful than the world's best golfer, Scottie Scheffler. The 28-year-old American has of course had a quite phenomenal year, finishing in the top 10 16 times in 19 starts and winning seven times... including the Masters, the Players and FedEx Playoffs. Oh yes, he is also the proud possessor of an Olympic gold medal. We'll leave the cash he's won out of this conversation, but let's just say he's not scratching around looking for the best mortgage rates.

For so many, Scheffler is an enigma - a guy whose swing can look all over the place at times, but who nevertheless achieves scarcely credible levels of consistency. Even his coach Randy Smith revealed: "He can make 'mistakes' in his swing all day long, but by the time he gets to impact, he has it corrected." This is what fascinates performance coaches like me. How does he do it? And what can we learn and use from the answer? Let's examine what I believe are the roots of Scheffler's incredible play... building blocks we can all use to create progress in our own games.
