Against a tough industry backdrop, Airlock Games has a plan for making game production more sustainable
-
Over the years, Justin Fischer has worked on games such as Battlefield Mobile and the Disney Infinity series. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, he's been made redundant twice. The last time this happened, he was working on Warner Bros' free-to-play brawler MultiVersus, and was laid off alongside fellow developer Brock Feldman.
Feldman had worked for Riot Games and Phoenix Labs, and today, both designers are the co-founders of Airlock Games. Fischer is serving as CEO and Feldman is the CTO and creative lead. A team of two, they're eager to take the lessons they've learned from working on blockbusters and use them to make games in a way that's more sustainable. And through that, Fischer wants to return game design to an era of “reckless creativity”.
