Mr. Mukesh Srivastava, Head of Digital Imaging business at Sony India
How has the Digital Imaging Business performed over the past year, and what have been the key growth drivers in the Indian market?
In FY24, our business demonstrated robust performance, marked by a significant increase in market share and customer engagement as we saw a 35% jump in sales compared to similar period last festive season. This year’s key growth drivers included the successful launch of innovative product lines, strategic campaigns and a heightened focus on customer-centric initiatives that enhanced overall satisfaction and loyalty of customers towards the brand. We have also paid emphasis on creating a strong creator-led community.
One of our significant efforts towards this objective was India’s first KANDO event which united over 70 top artisans from across India, including photographers, filmmakers and content creators. It encouraged exchange of creative thoughts in photography and videography and to learn, evolve and calibrate over a span of three days.
We launched ‘Think Weddings. Think Sony’ campaign last year that resonates with our focus towards the wedding segment, which played a pivotal role in attracting and retaining creators. Further building on this momentum, we launched new courses under Alpha Classroom which has free video tutorials related to photography, videography and vlogging.
As for the product line-up, we introduced the next generation ZV-E10II camera to empower creators, vloggers and photographers with cutting-edge technology. This was followed by the launch of a series of lenses such as SEL85F14GM2, SEL2870GM and SEL400800G, offering versatility to shoot every moment effectively.
Overall, these factors combined to create a strong groundwork for continued growth and positioned us favourably for future opportunities in the camera segment.
