With the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Google takes cues from its impressive line-up of Pixel smartphones and resolves some of the design oddities we’ve seen on foldable smartphones from more seasoned competitors in the category.

The result is a mature foldable smartphone that does most things right, right out of the gate.

Design

Refined engineering showcase - The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is undeniably sleek and refined. Its thin profile and the smooth, matte glass back adds a touch of understated luxury.

More importantly, it seamlessly blends the practicality of a smartphone when used folded with the flair of the foldable form factor. When closed, it almost feels like a regular smartphone—more natural and seamless to use instead some other clunky foldable smartphones with awkward proportions, including the firstgeneration Pixel Fold.

That’s also because the 6.3-inch outer display is generously sized – just like the regular Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro – making it practical for everyday tasks (thanks to the tall aspect ratio) and comfortable for one-handed use.

But the Pixel 9 Pro Fold really comes to life when you pry it open. The expansive 8-inch OLED inner display with minimal bezels and a vibrant display is perfect for an immersive media consumption experience or multitasking across apps. While the crease is still noticeable, especially when viewing off-angle, it’s less pronounced than in previous foldable iterations and doesn’t detract significantly from the overall experience.
